Today there are over 9 000 metropolitan areas in the world, providing a home to almost 4 billion residents. In practice this means that billions of people are subject to loud, industrious city noises, surrounded by busy streets and many, many neighbors, some of which can be louder than an ambulance with a siren passing you by. Or perhaps you're the loud one? Whatever the case may be, it's no secret that city folk, especially those coming from the world's largest, most dense cities, are looking for more ways to make their homes a more quiet and safe space in order to hide from the constant noise. This is where innovative wall covers come in.

What are the available options?
Let's just start by saying that if you saw someone on TV putting up egg cartons against the wall hoping to draw out some noise, sadly, that won't work. But there are indeed a few options out there that will!
And while this article will not be very technical, there is an important distinction to be made. Depending on what you're looking for, there are products that can absorb the noise from within a room, and there are also products that will block (reduce) sound transmission. The first significant difference is that most reliable soundproofing options will be ones that are “built into” the wall, while sound absorbing options are one's you can put up as a finishing surface in the room.

Now while you might think that you definitely need to soundproof your space, chances are, that's not really an option for you as it often requires actual construction work. Sound absorbing options, however, will work better for simple home improvement and is most probably what you're actually looking for. Again, we're not talking about music studios and cinema halls, which have specific requirements. Chances are that what you're looking for is a simple and eye-pleasing acoustic wall covering or perhaps acoustic covering for ceilings that will muffle some of the louder everyday sounds you're surrounded by.
Acoustic wall panels are fairly thick wall cover panels that come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, which you then need to add onto the wall just like you would do with tiles in the bathroom. The good news is that a lot of the available options nowadays come in beautiful and stylish options, matching almost any interior design out there, including acoustic wood wall panels and fabric-based ones. So if what you're looking for is specifically acoustic wall panels for commercial, office or home interiors that will be both beautiful and sound muffling, decorative acoustic wall panels are your safest bet!

Nevertheless, there are more options on the market that can give you all of that .. but more.
Acoustic wall plasters offer design, acoustic properties, fire-resistant properties, they're moisture repellant and easy to repair. The list goes on and on. See the next section where we go into more detail on what exactly are all the possibilities acoustic plasters have to offer.
What is acoustic plaster?
Similar to acoustic wall panels, acoustic plaster will not be an absolute soundproofing option. Rather it will help muffle any sounds that may seem loud at times. Silk plaster liquid wallpaper is a unique product that's made in Europe, but has a Japanese history.
Let's see what else besides the sound reducing effects it has to offer to anyone looking for a beautiful wall cover option.

ECO FRIENDLY
First and foremost, Silk plaster wall covers are made from natural, eco-friendly materials. The main components are cellulose fibers, minerals and an adhesive. This use of natural raw materials and strictly controlled production technology result in an environmentally friendly and internationally certified coating material that is both safe and beautiful for homes and workspaces.
HYPOALLERGENIC
All Silk plaster products have hypoallergenic properties, meaning that no allergic reaction inducing compounds are emitted from any Silk Plaster covered surfaces. Not only that, but this wallcovering plaster material works almost like a repellant, whereby it doesn't allow for any pathogenic microorganisms, hairs or dust to settle on its surfaces, making it safe for the whole family!
FIRE RESISTANT
Speaking of safety, Silk plaster products are also fire-resistant, making it one of the safer options out there you can trust to improve your home.
THERMAL PROPERTIES
Silk plaster acoustic plaster not only offers acoustic absorption properties, but also thermal insulation properties, allowing for large, cold spaces to become more comfortable.
ODORLESS & MOISTURE RESISTANT
Did you know that most wall cover options on the market absorb odors and moisture, including insulation and wall panels? Liquid wall plasters don't! Because of its unique compounds, the material deflects odors and moisture, which ensures that they won't burst or start peeling, if, for example, exposed to kitchen fumes.
DESIGN & TEXTURE
These products not only come with a variety of design options, including geometric styles and individualized drawings or moldings, but also offer a wonderful soft-to-the-touch texture that will make any space feel homey and warm. The texture also provides an excellent way of masking any cracks or impurities to the wall.
Due to the consistency and form of plaster materials, they provide a beautiful outcome without any seams, such as you'd see with wallpaper or any on the acoustic panels.
FULL COVERAGE
Last but not least, the perfect outcome. This is not to say that other options will not leave you satisfied with your choice. Rather, make sure to remember that acoustic panels come in pre-defined forms, making it more difficult to fill non-traditional walls such as arches or round walls. Acoustic plaster, however, is easy to use on any type of wall or ceiling, without giving much thought beforehand!
FRAGMENTARY REPAIR
And perhaps the best of all – should anything go wrong or the wall covering gets some wear and tear over time, it offers fast and easy fragmentary repair!

Acoustic plaster installation
If you've come this far and are considering introducing acoustic wall plaster into your home, here's what you need to know. Acoustic plaster price will be similar, if not cheaper, than the other available options. At the end of the day, it all depends on the design and the amount of product you need.
Acoustic wall plaster is easily manageable, which is why it can be done both by you and a professional, if you prefer leaving it to them. However, if you're looking to give it a shot or just want to get an idea of how long the process takes, here's a short run though.
Silk plaster products can be applied to many different types of walls, and most of them have their nuances in terms of preparation. Since the list is quite long, we won't bore you with all of the details at this time and trust that those who want to know more will look it up on our website. Just keep in mind that the goal is to have a ready-to-go surface that's dry, smooth, clean, monochrome white, free from stains and dust.
Once you have prepared the surface - you can treat it with a deep penetration primer. This means applying two layers of Silk plaster primer over the entire surface, aiming for total coverage. Drying time between the application of layers is 24 hours. Plus, the decorative plasters should be applied 24 hours after the second layer of Silk plaster primer.
Preparation of the material is an important step towards the final outcome.
You start with pouring clean, room temperature water into a plastic container. The amount of water for each type of decorative plaster usually is indicated on the packaging. Then pour the content of the package into the water. Similarly to the paints, if you need several packages of Silk plaster, mix them all at once. A single wall should be completely covered with the material from the same mix. If you wish, this is also the time to add glitters and/or decorative additives.
Mix the material by hand thoroughly. Some materials will require you to drill with a mixer nozzle, but you'll see that noted on the packaging. When that's done, put the soaked material in a plastic bag and keep it for 12 hours.
Before application, once more mix the material thoroughly by hand/mixer nozzle. Use a plastic trowel to apply small amounts of the mixed material evenly throughout the surface. After 1-2 hours smooth the surface with the trowel, wetting it with water.

To increase durability, as well as for a future possibility of wet cleaning, cover the surface with Silk plaster varnish.
So all in all, the preparation and set-up can take around 3 days, which can be a great thing as doing a project in small parts is less overwhelming than pulling an all-nighter and ending up extremely exhausted by the whole thing.
And there you have it! An easy solution for sound management with a lot of additional benefits that come along with it. There are numerous acoustic plaster designs available to you know, so don't hesitate and take a peek into
